Happy holidays—and all the stress that comes with it! If you’re finding that all the holiday parties, shopping stresses, and end-of-year work commitments are interrupting those visions of sugarplums dancing in your head, then you’re in good company. Even happy occasions, like a vacation, a birth of a baby, or holidays, create stress that can disrupt healthy sleep. It’s called “eustress,” which literally translated means “good stress,” but our bodies and minds still interpret them as demands. And that can set our midnight minds spinning.

There are a few simple ways you can improve your long winter’s nap (and not even the reindeer on the rooftops will wake you!). Consider these easy tips:

  • Keep it cool. The ideal room temperature for sleeping is about 65 degrees Fahrenheit, cooler than we typically prefer it indoors. You may even find that a few degrees cooler is ideal for you, even in the winter, especially with a blanket tossed on top of you.
  • Don’t light up the night. It’s not just that action movie or that urgent email’s content that’s keeping you awake at night. It’s literally the screen itself. The blue light emitted by your phone, tablet, and TV screens are notorious nod disruptors. You can minimize their effect by wearing blue-light blocking eyewear while working at a screen. But your best bet is to turn off screens at least 30 minutes before bedtime.
  • Sleigh the schedule! Just like Santa has his disciplined schedule, so should you when it comes to good sleep. Start winding down about an hour before you’d like to get some shuteye. This might include meditation, making your to-do list for tomorrow, brushing teeth and washing your face, or even taking a cool shower.

Many people choose to have a glass of wine or other “wind down” beverage in the evening, and although alcohol is a natural relaxer, it doesn’t promote quality sleep. Coffee, while a fine finish to your evening meal, is even worse in the evening—skip it completely!

Instead, try replacing your typical evening beverage with the Unwined Chill Drink from HCo., specifically designed to enhance sleep with GABA, L-theanine and natural melatonin. You’ll feel the stress ebbing away and many find they not only fall asleep faster, but sleep more deeply and awake refreshed without any aftereffects.  Far too many sleep aids create a “next day” rebound effect where you may feel groggy or unclear, but that’s not the case with Unwined Chill Drink, which even includes potent antioxidants such as grape seed extract, apple extract, and natural botanicals including passionflower, saffron, basil, valerian, and lemon balm extract. You’ll feel great …and feel great about what’s in Unwined Chill Drink!

Even if you don’t wear a kerchief or a cap, Unwined will help you settle in for a long winter’s nap that makes every morning feel a little more festive. Learn more about Unwined Chill Drink HERE and give yourself the gift of rest in the new year!
